Providing personalised help to improve users sleep.
Design Brief
“Design a solution to a problem or opportunity within a context of your choosing. The solution you design will take the form of a digital user interface on one primary platform (e.g. a tablet) and one companion platform (e.g. a smartwatch).”
Problem space
Extensive research was conducted through a triangulated research method that utilised surveys, interviews and literature reviews. Based on this research, the following problem was identified:
‘Poor sleep quality is negatively impacting the lives of adults.’
Compatible platforms
To maximise the user experience, SleepWell was created as a cross compatible application for mobile and smartwatch.
How does it work?
SleepWell tracks users’ daily activity and provides them with personalised daily facts to help improve their sleep and allow them to live a healthier life. The app aims to seamlessly sync data from users’ smartwatches onto the mobile app and provide an intuitive cross-platform experience. Users are able to receive an array of personalised notifications that will appear on both mobile and smartwatch interfaces to provide them with key reminders e.g. reminders to not consume caffeine after a certain time, exercise reminders, night-time phone use limits etc. As well as this the app provides users with tools to improve sleep quality and improve daily life such as guided meditation sessions.
Smartwatch functionality
The incorporation of SleepWell as a smartwatch app allows for accurate exercise and sleep tracking. This enables the app to better formulate personalised tips to help users improve their sleep based on the data from the users smartwatch. As well as this the smartwatch app can notify users for things such as caffeine intake and exercise reminders without the user needing their phone, making for a more seamless user experience
